“Burning” by Boris Vallejo 1979
Hey Deviant Misfit I saw you had reblogged a black & white version of Boris’ “Burning” from underview. I think the color version is much better so I thought to reblog it here for you (and everyone else). It’s been a blast blogging back and forth with you this weekend, btw. :)
Damn, way cool! And yes, it does reminds me of “Silent Hill” too…I’ve never played “Mortal Kombat” but this looks interesting.
It is found that bullets and explosions can’t kill these alien vampires…one of the other scientist discovers that this ancient medieval sword made of lead is the only thing that can kill them by impaling one of the male vampires. He surmises that the legends of vampires may well be drawn from a previous visit by this alien vampire race….
Carlsen then admits to Caine that whilst on the shuttle he felt compelled to open the female vampire’s glass coffin and shared some of his life force with her. As he tells Caine “I was in love on a level you’ve never known.” Carlsen realises his psychic connection is being used to lure him back to the alien girl, he think so she can regain the life force she shared with him. She is located lying upon a church’s altar transferring the energy to her spaceship….outside the church they encounter the second male vampire who briefly show his true form as he is impaled with the leaded sword….
